Mark Ciardi heads Mayhem Pictures, a feature film and television production company with his partner, Gordon Gray. Since its founding, Ciardi and Gray have accrued a successful track record – both in terms of box office earnings and critical acclaim – and are now considered among Hollywood’s preeminent producers.
An All-State high school pitcher from New Jersey, Mark Ciardi continued his baseball career at the University of Maryland, where he earned his B.S. in Business. He was drafted in 1983 by the Milwaukee Brewers organization and was called up to the majors in 1987. He retired the following year due to injury.
Mayhem has established an indelible brand for quality entertainment in just over seven years. Its imprint remains most pronounced in the sports drama genre, having produced the critically acclaimed and commercially successful feature films, The Rookie (2002), starring Dennis Quaid, and Miracle (2004), starring Kurt Russell. That streak was extended in August 2006 with the release of Invincible, starring Mark Wahlberg. All three are distributed through Walt Disney Pictures. Other films Ciardi and Gray have made include Disney’s The Game Plan and Secretariat. Most recently, Gray and Ciardi were inducted as members of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences (AMPAS).
