FISHER STEVENS

Fisher Stevens is an actor, director and producer.

Stevens began his career appearing in the Tony-winning production of “Torch Song Trilogy”. He parlayed his stage success into films including The Flamingo Kid, and Short Circuit, as well as guest roles in many television shows.

Stevens co-founded the theater company Naked Angels. In 1996 he co-founded GreeneStreet Films, where Stevens produced over 15 films including the Academy Award-nominated In The Bedroom, A Prairie Home Companion, Piñero, Swimfan and the acclaimed documentary Once In A Lifetime.

Stevens has a tremendous passion for documentary filmmaking. The Cove, which Stevens produced, won the 2010 Academy Award for Best Documentary, the PGA Producer of the Year Award, and the Audience Award at Sundance. Additionally, Stevens co-directed Crazy Love, winner of the 2008 Independent Spirit Award for Best Documentary.

Stevens directed the film The War Against War, which takes an in-depth look at the United Nations peacekeeping missions around the globe. He collaborated with Culture Project as director of two multi-media events, Blueprint For Accountability, addressing the complex issue of war crimes and torture.

In 2010, Stevens co-founded Insurgent Media with Andrew Karsch and Erik Gordon. Currently they are working on documentaries about the Lake Tanganyika Floating Health Clinic, drummer Ginger Baker, a Woody Allen biopic, and Mission Blue, which follows oceanographer Sylvia Earle. Insurgent’s first release, Blank City, hit theaters in April, garnering rave reviews.

Fisher is currently the Director of the hit Broadway play, John Leguizamo’s Ghetto Klown at the Lyceum Theatre.
