Produced By Conference News

Feb 20, 2011 - Produced By Conference 2011 Session Topics Announced

Titles and descriptions for the third annual Produced By Conference were announced today, showcasing a program that encompasses the diverse challenges of producing in film, television and new media.

Among the new sessions this year are Sky’s The Limit: Entrepreneurial Media and Indie Innovators, Scripted Television: Breaking In and Smaller Stories on Bigger Screens: Producing the Micro-Budget Feature.  The Produced By Conference balances sessions on new and cutting-edge topics with mainstays of previous Conferences and of the Producers Guild’s annual seminar program.

Film producers will be able to attend a variety of sessions on financing and international co-productions, with a strong emphasis on new sources of funding and the new creative and business alliances that have emerged as a potential alternative to the studio system, while studio filmmaking will be given its due with a session that focuses on the work and perspective of top storytellers who work with event host Walt Disney Studios.

Television producers will be given unique access to some of the most influential figures in the medium, including a variety of top showrunners and key buyers and developers of reality programming.  Whether you’re a young producer hoping to find your way into the industry or a seasoned veteran seeking to expand your field of prospective buyers and partners, Produced By’s television offerings have something for you.

Both film and television producers are becoming, of necessity, new media producers, as new media platforms and delivery systems play an increasingly important role in the financing and distribution of every project.  New media sessions at Produced By tackle such challenges as the essential need to develop a strong brand in an infinite-channel media universe, and the technical and creative expectations producers of broadband, mobile and transmedia content should be expected to meet.

And of course, Produced By 2011 will continue its program of “Conversations” with a handful of the top producers and media figures within the industry; check the home page frequently for updates.  The Conference’s strong annual commitment to green practices is detailed in the session Bleeding Green: Content With a Cause.
