Timothy M. Gray became group editor of Variety in April 2009, overseeing Daily Variety, the weekly edition and variety.com. Since being named to the post, he has been working with the Variety team to expand coverage in such areas as international, legal, technology and music, while retaining its tradition in fields such as film, TV and theater reporting -- and, of course, retaining the sassy headlines.
Since joining Variety in 1981, he has served in a number of posts, and has regularly contributed news stories, reviews and photos to the paper.
He is the author of Hollywood Dictionary, which defines such slanguage as boffo, ankle and honcho, and is a co-author of Cannes: 50 Years of Sun, Sex & Celluloid. He was co-producer of the HBO documentary Boffo.
