Richard Marks

Richard Marks is a transactional attorney practicing in all areas of entertainment law in Los Angeles, California.

After earning a BA with Honors in Political Science from UCLA (Phi Beta Kappa, Magna Cum Laude, Valedictory Speaker), Richard graduated with a JD from UCLA School of Law.

He started his entertainment legal career as an associate attorney at what is now the Bloom Hergott entertainment law firm (representing such clients as Sylvester Stallone and George Lucas) before moving in-house where he held senior legal and business affairs positions at major studios (Paramount, Disney and Universal), major independent production and distribution companies (Weintraub Entertainment Group, Media Home Entertainment and The Kushner-Locke Company), an agency (Ziegler Diskant), and animation companies (Nickelodeon and Nelvana) in all aspects of development, financing, production, marketing, sales and distribution of feature films, network and cable television programming, direct-to-home entertainment and animated production.

Switching back to private practice in 2003, Richard was Of Counsel with Greenberg Traurig primarily representing producers and production companies (e.g., Smith & Weed, The Gurin Company, Summit, Berry Gordy Jr., and Robert Sillerman) before joining The Point Media, An Entertainment Law Firm, as a Partner in 2006, again primarily representing producers and production companies (e.g., Mandalay, MGM, MRC, BermanBraun, Harpo, Bedford Falls, Katalyst, NBC Universal direct-to-DVD productions, and vonZerneck/Sertner) in all areas of traditional film and television as well as new media exploitation.
