Mary McNamara has worked for the Los Angeles Times for seventeen years, writing extensively about the inner workings of Hollywood. She graduated from the University of Missouri with degrees in journalism and women's studies. Before coming to the Times, she worked as a writer and editor for Ms. magazine and Whittle Communications. She has been an editor, a reporter, a feature writer and a columnist for the Times, and is currently a television critic for the paper. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband and three children. She is the author of two novels, Oscar Season and her new title, The Starlet.
