Hayma ‘Screech’ Washington

Hayma ‘Screech’ Washington’s career spans the industry almost 30 years, working as an executive producer, director, producer, and associate producer.

Early on, Washington was the Associate Producer for Don Ohlmeyer Communications Company; credits include the 39th Annual Emmy Awards Show, The Comedy Store’s 15th Reunion, and several of Disney’s 4th of July Spectacular TV specials. Washington was also part of the team that produced the first four years of the MTV Video Music Awards, and was honored with four MTV Merit Awards.

As a freelancer, Washington worked on the First Annual ESPY’s for ESPN. His first directing venture on The Yamaha Sound Check earned him an award from Yamaha.

Washington then moved onto a 10-year stint at The Walt Disney Studios and held the position of Vice President of Buena Vista Domestic and International Productions, overseeing Physical Production and Foreign Format Operations.

More recently Washington served as Executive Producer of the CBS television show The Amazing Race. His thirteen seasons garnered him seven consecutive Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Reality-Competition Program. In addition, he received a Producers Guild Award in 2004 and has been nominated for numerous other awards throughout his career.

With all his success, Hayma ‘Screech’ Washington formed his own production company, Screechers Pix. Currently, clients include Endemol, FUSE, CBS, NBC, ABC, CW, Lifetime, Discovery, Nat Geo, TNT, and TruTv. The company produces television shows and formats, both scripted and unscripted for domestic and international distribution.
