Ed Guiney runs film and television drama production company Element Pictures with partner Andrew Lowe. Current productions include The Guard (John Michael McDonagh) starring Brendan Gleeson and Don Cheadle, the feature documentary Little Matador (Gabriel Range, Sandra Jordan) and All Good Children (Alicia Duffy) which has been selected for Director's Fortnight at Cannes 2010. Recent film projects include Zonad, directed by John Carney (Once), Cracks, the first film from Jordan Scott starring Eva Green, Five Minutes of Heaven (Oliver Hirschbiegel), which won the Best Director and Screenplay at Sundance 2009, Garage (Lenny Abrahamson) which won the CICAE award at Director's Fortnight at Cannes 2007, The Wind that Shakes the Barley which won the 2007 Palm d'Or, the BAFTA-winning Omagh (Pete Travis) and the Venice Golden Lion winner 2002, The Magdalene Sisters (Peter Mullan). Ed Guiney also produced Gabriel Range's Death of a President. Element Pictures is also one of the leading television drama producers in Ireland, supplying drama to RTÉ, ITV, SKY, BBC and Channel 4 and also operates an Irish distribution company, Element Pictures Distribution, handling the Optimum/Canal slate in Ireland as well as other acquisitions. Element has offices in Dublin and London.
