Cathy Schulman

Academy Award®–winning producer Cathy Schulman became President of Mandalay Pictures in January 2007. In 2010, her duties expanded to include oversight of Mandalay Vision, the company’s independent film label. In her current role, Schulman is a part of an elite group of women who head self-financed film and television production companies.

At Mandalay, Schulman is currently developing an array of projects including Our Wild Life with Warner Bros. and New Line Pictures, and Sinatra, a biopic with Martin Scorsese set to direct. Additionally, Mandalay Vision has just completed production on Salvation Boulevard, starring Pierce Brosnan, Jennifer Connelly, Greg Kinnear, Ed Harris and Marisa Tomei, and for which Schulman serves as producer.

Previous to Mandalay, Schulman produced Crash, directed by Paul Haggis. Released in 2005 by Lionsgate Films, Crash collected numerous awards, including Best Ensemble at the Screen Actors Guild Awards and Best Screenplay at the WGA Awards. In addition to the Best Picture Oscar, Crash received Academy Awards for Best Original Screenplay and Best Editing. In 2002, Schulman co-founded Bull’s Eye Entertainment to produce independent film and television, where she produced The Illusionist, written and directed by Neil Burger.

Schulman has produced numerous other films including Thumbsucker, Sidewalks of New York, Tears of the Sun and Employee of the Month. From 1998 to 2000, Schulman served as President of Artists Production Group. Previously, Schulman held executive positions at Sovereign Pictures, The Samuel Goldwyn Company and Savoy Pictures. She served as co-director of programming at the Sundance Film Festival from 1989 to 1992.
