Roland Emmerich directed and executive produced “The Patriot”, which starred Mel Gibson and Heath Ledger.

Roland Emmerich began his career in his native Germany. He went on to study Film at the film school in Munich, Germany and his student film “The Noah’s Ark Principle” went on to open the 1984 Berlin Film Festival. The feature became a success and was sold to more than 20 countries.

Emmerich subsequently formed his own production company, Centropolis Film Productions, and under its aegis produced and directed “Making Contact (a.k.a. Joey)”, “Ghost Chase” and “Moon 44”.

His first American Film was the 1992 hit “Universal Soldiers”, which was followed by “Stargate” in 1994. “Independence Day” (1996), his biggest hit to date grossed over 800,000,000 Dollars worldwide and established him as one of Hollywood’s top directors. “Independence Day” as well as “Godzilla” followed two years later and were directed and executive produced by Roland.

In 2000 Roland Emmerich directed and executive produced “The Patriot”, which starred Mel Gibson and Heath Ledger. His most recent box office success was “The Day After Tomorrow” featuring Dennis Quaid and Jake Gyllenhaal in 2004.

For the 2007 released movie “Trade” Roland put on the hat of producer once again. Marco Kreuzpaintner directed this gripping drama about human trafficking across the Mexican border into the U.S..

“10,000 BC” tells the story of the world’s first hero, who brought down an evil empire to safe his love and was released in March 2008, while Roland’s most recent project “2012”, based on the predictions of the Mayan calendar is schedule to open in theatres in November 13th, 2009.
